FUN & POSITIVE: When you arrive at a Celebrity Event, you will experience what it means to be a Celebrity. We have set the stage for an on-time, high energy event. Our fun and positive environment allows your dancers to showcase their talent and grow through their performance.

This gift from Celebrity changes with each season. Be sure to join us on the next Celebrity Tour, to collect your Celebrity Souvenir Shirts.

ON TIME:Celebrity is an on-time event. Every routine will be assigned an exact performance time, as well as exact times for awards. No time frames or guessing when you will be dancing.

INCENTIVES:We wouldn’t be who we are without the help of our teachers, directors, and studios owners. To show our appreciation for your dedication throughout the year, Celebrity offers all studio staff special gifts, incentives, Celebrity Online Registration and Celebrity Club, just for you!

TROPHIES & MEDALS:At Celebrity, we understand the preparation and hard work required to bring every routine to the stage. We feel these accomplishments should be recognized! We awardour Celebrity Trophies to the 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rdplace winners in each category and age division and, in addition to trophies, every dancer receives a medal for each routine they perform in. These medals are a special reward for your hard work all year long.

CELEBRITY DANCEDOWN: To help our Celebrity Dancers grow in the industry, we invite all our participants to join us on stage for the Celebrity DanceDown. This is a chance for dancers to show our Celebrity Judges who they are. Participants will be taught a high energy combination. They will then perform it on stage and the Celebrity Judges will narrow down the dancers as our exciting audition process continues. At the end of the audition, dancers will be awarded prizes and scholarships from our Celebrity Sponsors.

CELEBRITY JUDGES:Celebrity hand selects judges, based on their professional experience, breadth of knowledge in the field, as well as their character. Our panel of judges is well-rounded, consisting of experts in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, and contemporary dance, as well as various forms of street styles and cultural dance. Every Celebrity Judge has either professional directing, performance, or choreographic experience in the industry, to help provide our dancers the best critiques possible. Celebrity Dance utilizes video critiques in order to further ensure dancers are getting the most out of their experience, and growing in their technique and performance.

CELEBRITY NATIONALS:By participating in a Celebrity Regional Event, you will earn the right to compete against dancers from around the world at Celebrity Nationals. Celebrity Nationals is a national competition like no other, with your favorite Celebrity Faculty, Judges and Staff guiding the way. Experience the full Celebrity Treatment with limitless fun, brilliant dancing, and entertainment for the whole family!

PHOTO & VIDEO: Take the stage and Celebrity Paparazzi will capture the moment. For all Celebrity Regional Events, photos and videos will be provided complimentary for dancers through their Celebrity Online Account. Dancers will be able to download photos and videos, for the routines they are registered in, approximately 5 days after the event.

MARLEY:Celebrity uses Harlequin flooring at all Celebrity Events. This helps to ensure our Celebrity Dancers are performing on the best marley flooring nationwide.

CATEGORIES:

• Ballet:A routine demonstrating ballet or pointe technique (no acrobatics permitted).
• Jazz:A routine demonstrating jazz technique and style (max 3 acrobatic skills).
• Tap:A routine demonstrating tap technique, in tap shoes (max 3 acrobatic skills). No tap sounds on recordings.
• Hip Hop:A routine demonstrating any street style or technique derived from, but not limited to, breaking, popping, locking, house, waacking, etc.
• Lyrical:A routine expressing the lyrics of a song, using various ballet and jazz techniques (max 3 acrobatic skills).
• Contemporary:A routine demonstrating a contemporary style of dance, by blending various techniques from modern, ballet, jazz, and/or hip hop (max 3 acrobatic skills).
• Character:A routine featuring any style of dance, interpreting a song or character from a Broadway show, movie, musical or similar.
• Team:A group routine demonstrating cheer, pom, or drill team style movements and techniques. No stunts or tosses allowed.
• Ethnic:A routine demonstrating a style of dance originating from an ethnic culture, including folk and social dance styles.
• Song & Dance:A routine in which live singing accompanies the dance. Celebrity will provide two wireless microphones. No lead vocals permitted on the music track; backup vocals are allowed.
• Acro:A routine blending dance and acrobatic elements.
• Open:Any routine that consists of multiple styles of dance or does not fall under any other category.
• Icon:This category is reserved for any dancer with a disability. Everyone’s disabilities may be different, but they share a common desire to dance.
• Production:A large group routine featuring dancers from multiple age groups or companies. Productions may demonstrate any style of dance or combination of dance styles. Time limit maximum of 8:00 minutes. MUST be a large group. Productions may use up to 2 wireless microphones for the performance.
• Showcase: A category for teachers, studio owners and adults to showcase their talents, for critiques, trophies and medals. Not eligible for overalls.
• Photogenic:To enter the photogenic category, please bring two (2) 8×10 photographs on the first day of your event. One headshot and one dance shot (either posed or action). Please mark the back of each photo with the dancer’s name, age and studio. The photogenic category is $25 per entry and winners will be announced at the Saturday evening awards. Photos will not be returned.

TIMES:

• Solos 1 Dancer: two minutes and forty five seconds maximum, 2:45
• Duo/Trio 2-3 Dancers: three minutes maximum, 3:00
• Small Group 4-9 Dancers: three minutes maximum, 3:00
• Medium Group 10-18 Dancers: three minutes maximum, 3:00
• Large Group 19 & Up: four minutes maximum, 4:00
• Production 19 & Up: eight minutes maximum, 8:00

DIVISIONS:There are nine age divisions in all categories. Please read the age requirements to evaluate where your competition groups will be placed.

• Mini Division: 3 – 4.99
• Pre-junior Division: 5 – 6.99
• Junior Division: 7 – 8.99
• Intermediate Division: 9 – 10.99
• Preteen Division: 11 – 12.99
• Teen Division: 13 – 14.99
• Senior Division: 15 – 16.99
• Premier Division: 17 – 19.99
• Adult Division: 20 & up

Age is determined by actual age as of January 1 of that competition year. Age is an average of all competitors within that routine. All ages should be added together then divided by the number of performers to determine placement. Failure to comply can result in disqualification.

Please read carefully. Failure to comply may result in loss of points or disqualification. By entering Celebrity Dance Competitions, you accept all policies and guidelines set forth.

COMPETITION ADMISSION: Audience admission for competition is free at all regional events.

COMPETITION RULES:

• There is no limit to the number of entries per studio.
• All routines must be appropriate for family viewing. The use of music, choreography, or costuming not appropriate for minors, may result in the deduction of points.
• Teachers are not allowed to compete. Teachers may perform in the Showcase category.
• Dancers may compete in more than one city.
• No use of dangerous props such as fire, glass, swords, etc. General props are permitted.
• No live animals.
• No scenery.
• No helium balloons, loose feathers or loose glitter permitted.
• The stage must be left clean by the presenting studio.
• No coaching from the audience.
• Routines must perform in their scheduled order unless permission is given otherwise.

VENUES:Professional equipment is used in all locations. Stage and venue sizes vary by location. Please contact Celebrity for the measurements of your performance area. If your event is in a hotel, this may require entrances by stairs. Effects including but not limited to lighting, strobes and smoke will be used during events. If you are sensitive to these items you should not attend Celebrity Events.

CRITIQUES:Competition score sheets and routine critiques may be picked up at Celebrity & Company. These items will be given to the teacher or studio owner only. By entering Celebrity Competitions, you accept that all decisions by judges are final.

AWARDS:All entries will be adjudicated by three judges. Platinum, high gold, gold, silver and bronze awards will be presented. All platinum, high gold, gold, and silver award winners will be eligible for Celebrity Nationals. Bronze award winners may perform at Celebrity Nationals, for critiques only.

ACROBATIC LIMITATIONS:Some categories limit the number of acrobatic skills (performed either on their own, or in a pass) that a routine may contain. An acrobatic skill refers to any gymnastic-based exercise including handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, handsprings, aerials, tucks, layouts, or any other flipping maneuver done in the air. Partner lifts, illusions and rolls on the floor (such as seat rolls and shoulder rolls) are NOT considered an acrobatic skill in these circ*mstances. No acrobatic skills are allowed in ballet routines. Jazz, tap, lyrical and contemporary routines are allowed three (3) acrobatic skills. All other categories may include unlimited acrobatics. Tumbling passes count as 1 skill. Example: A running roundoff back handspring into a back tuck, if done continuously, would count as 1 acrobatic skill.

MUSIC:Celebrity goes GREEN! At Celebrity, all music must be uploaded online at least 5 days prior to the event. Log into your Celebrity Online Account to upload your music. Please bring backup copies on a USB. All music must be cued up at the start of the track, and ready to play. Music cannot be accepted on a CD, phone, tablet or computer. Please check your music files prior to the start of competition. Music delays may result in a 5-point deduction.

SINGING: A live microphone is permitted only in the Song & Dance and Production categories. Up to two (2) handheld wireless microphones may be used and will be provided by Celebrity for Song & Dance and Production routines. The use of a live microphone or tapping into the house sound is not permitted in any other category. Live singing without a microphone is permitted in all other categories, where appropriate.

TIES:All ties will be broken by technical score. If there is a tie by technical score, ties will be broken by routine score. If there should be a tie on routine score, the tie will be broken by decision of the judges.

TOUR CALENDAR: Celebrity Dance Competitions has the right to adjust the tour at any time for any reason, this includes dates, times and venues. Regional competition may commence beginning at 8am on Friday and may conclude at 9:30pm on Sunday. If there are unique time constraints that require Celebrity to operate outside of these hours, we will do our best to contact the studio representative during scheduling. The final schedule will be based on event size.

SCHEDULE: The final schedule and Welcome Packet will be available through your Celebrity Online Account, powered by DanceEra, at least 10 days prior to your event. Dancers that have attended a Celebrity Event in the past or have a Celebrity Online Account, you will get an email notification when the schedule is available. If you do not have a Celebrity Online Account, you can create one by selecting the REGISTER button or by CLICKING HERE. This is the same account you will use to download your complimentary photos & videos and view your medal rankings after your event.

HOTELS:Celebrity secures choice hotels at preferred rates for our guests. These hotel options can be found under your event location. Some rates may include a rebate for Celebrity.

CONDUCT:Dancers should act in an appropriate manner at all times. This includes in the dressing rooms, backstage, on stage and in the audience. All audience members must do the same.

PHOTO & VIDEO: Guests are not permitted to take photos or videos during routines. For Celebrity Regional Events, photos and videos will be provided complimentary for download through Celebrity Dancer Accounts. Dancers will only be able to access photos and videos for the routines they are registered in. Please note that no photos or videos will be provided for pickup at your event. They will be available for download approximately 5 days after your event.

ENTRIES:All entries are final and nonrefundable. No exceptions. Entries must be entered through the Celebrity Website. No changes to competition entries will be permitted within 10 days of the start of the event, without a change fee and final payment. Competitions will be limited based on time and availability. The competition is open on a first come first served basis. Register early to secure your spot at a Celebrity Dance Regional Event. Log into your Celebrity Online Account for registration policies and deadlines.

CELEBRITY PRICING: Pricing is located in studio accounts under the pricing tab. Studios may apply their own administration fees.

The own insurance policy of the competitor will be the only source of reimbursem*nt. This is the same for audience members, guests, family, friends, spectators, studio owners and teachers. Celebrity may use photos and videos from events, competitions, conventions and nationals for promotional use indefinitely. Official studio representative agrees he/she has informed all parents/guardians and spectators of these policies.

*Business and personal checks are only accepted when received 35 days prior to your event. Only checks with secured funds or credit cards will be accepted after the deadline. If funds are not received, competition space will be released.

This master class offers valuable auditioning experience and gives dancers a chance to show the Celebrity Judges who they really are. Participants will learn a high-energy routine via video. We will practice it all together at your event. Dancers will then perform this choreography live on stage. The Celebrity Judges will look for the brightest stars! The top 3 dancers will be recognized with a Celebrity DanceDown trophy and prize package. Participants will also have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes and scholarships from our Celebrity Sponsors. 1ST, 2ND & 3RD PLACE AWARDS:Every routine that competes is placed into a division based on the average age of the dancers, the style of dance and the number of people competing. Each routine is scored by 3 judges on a 100-point scale, for a possible total of 300 points. The top 3 scores in each category will receive a trophy, and every routine will receive medals based on the point value awarded.

OVERALL AWARDS:Celebrity awards the top 3 scores for Solos, Duo/Trios and Groups in each age division, as Celebrity Overall Awards. The style of dance is not considered for these awards, except for productions. Trophies are awarded for each of the top 3 scores.

PRODUCTION AWARDS: Celebrity awards productions with their category awards, by age division. For overall awards, production routines will only be scored against other production routines. All age groups will be combined for production overalls. Production overall awards will take place at the Award Ceremony following the conclusion of all group routines. Trophies are awarded for each of the top 3 scores.

MEDAL RANKINGS:Every routine that competes is scored and will receive a medal ranking based on the score. Each routine is scored by 3 judges on a 100-point scale, for a possible total of 300 points. Platinum, high gold, gold, silver and bronze awards will be presented based on the following point breakdown: Platinum: 280-300, High Gold: 270-279, Gold: 260-269, Silver: 230-259 and Bronze: 200-229. The top 3 scores in each category will receive a trophy and every routine will receive medals based on the point value awarded.

CAPEZIO SPIRIT:This award is given to dancers in which the judges believe show Charisma, Attitude, Passion, Energy, Zest, Individuality and Overall Ovation. The dancer will receive a $25 gift card to Capezio.

CELEBRITY SPIRIT:The Celebrity Spirit Award is given to dancers with excellent character, both on and off stage. Dancers with Celebrity Spirit demonstrate integrity, courage, and loyalty, while encouraging and supporting others in everything they do.

STUDIO SPIRIT:This award is given to the dance studio that has shown spirit throughout the event. This studio is prepared backstage, friendly to every participant and excited to see every dancer perform.

CELEBRITY DANCEDOWN:Before the final award ceremony on Saturday, we will host the Celebrity DanceDown. Dancers can sign up for this event at Celebrity & Company. Every participant will learn a routine from one of our instructors, and then split into groups to perform the routine. Our judges will narrow down the groups and choose the top 3 DanceDown winners in each age division (Mini, Junior and Senior). The winners will receive a prize package from our sponsors.

PHOTOGENIC:Dancers can enter our Photogenic competition, for a chance to win a prize package from Celebrity. Please bring two 8×10 photographs, preferably a headshot and a dance shot (either posed or action), and register at Celebrity & Company when you arrive. Our Celebrity Judges will be looking for the dancer who grabs their attention and emits light through their photo. Registration will close at the start of the DanceDown and winners will be announced at the Saturday evening awards.

THE CELEBRITY AWARDS: These prestigious specialty awards will be presented to the dancer or group that best represent the following 9 categories: C-Choreography, E-Entertainment, L-Legacy, E-Excellence, B-Bravo, R-Rhythmic, I-Intensity, T-Technique, Y-Young Star.

THE APOLLA ARTIST & ATHLETE AWARD:Apolla Performance Wear is committed to helping dancers feel better, supported, and protected by treating dancers as Artists AND Athletes. The Apolla Artist & Athlete Award will be presented to the dancer who demonstrates an exceptional balance between artistry and athleticism.

PERIDANCE SCHOLARSHIP:Peridance is New York’s premier dance center, offering over 250 drop-in classes, various workshops, and educational training programs to dancers from all over the world. Peridance Awards range from scholarships to class cards, for dancers who show exceptional talent on the Celebrity Stage.

BODYTRAFFIC SCHOLARSHIP:The nation’s elite dance company, based in Los Angeles, will be awarding scholarships to study and train at their summer programs.

AMDA SCHOLARSHIP: AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts is one of the country’s leading colleges for an immersive performing arts education. Selected dancers will be presented a scholarship to either AMDA’s Dance Theatre Bachelor of Fine Arts (4-year) program, AMDA’s Conservatory (2-year) programs, or AMDA’s High School Summer Conservatory programs. Available to dancers 14 and older.

CELEBRITY JUNIOR CREW: Celebrity Junior Crew is the precursor to Senior Crew. Being a part of Celebrity Junior Crew allows selected dancers the opportunity to work one-on-one with professional dancers and choreographers at Celebrity, compete 1 complimentary solo at Nationals, and perform with Celebrity Junior Crew members in The Celebrity Show. Get ready for the experience of a lifetime!

CELEBRITY SENIOR CREW:Celebrity Senior Crew is our highest honor here at Celebrity! The Senior Crew program gives selected dancers the chance to train closely with our judges and faculty, work alongside our staff and perform in The Celebrity Show at Nationals! This internship is awarded to dancers that excel in their art, are personable backstage, and show an excitement to further their education in dance. Many Celebrity Senior Crew alumni have gone on to perform, choreograph, and direct professionally in the industry.

FAMILY FRIENDLY:Celebrity is proud to present a competition where artists can express themselves freely. While we welcome all styles of dance, we strive to keep our events family friendly. At Celebrity, routines containing inappropriate material for children will be penalized. We realize this is a subjective matter, therefore we have entrusted our Celebrity Judges to use their discretion. If a judge believes a routine is not age-appropriate, points will be deducted. We appreciate your support in keeping all Celebrity Events appropriate for our family viewers.
