In 1927 the government filled the pass just north of the present day town limits, joining the upper Sand Key to the lower beaches. Incorporated in 1949 and called Indian Rocks Beach South Shore, the town shortened its name to Indian Shores in 1973.

It can be crowded during high season, but you can head to one of the other area beach accesses for a more private stretch of shoreline.

Our carts are street-legal and can be driven on main roads going 35 MPH or less within Indian Rocks Beach area. We do not allow our carts to be driven inland across the bridge. They are not allowed on any roads with a speed limit of over 35 MPH.

While technically you can swim at the beaches in Olympic National Park, I wouldn't recommend it. The waters along the Washington coast, including those at Olympic National Park's beaches, are known for being cold year-round. Even during the summer months, water temperatures can be quite chilly.
