Some of the nicest hotels in the city are actually the ones most likely to welcome pups, cats, birds, and even reptiles and have special amenities for their non-human guests.

For instance, Four Seasons — their two Los Angeles hotels are among my personal favorites — places luxurious pet beds and tasty treats in rooms where dogs and cats will be staying, and the concierge can arrange dog-walking and grooming services or point you in the direction of the best dog parks in L.A.

I put together this list, so you don’t have to leave Fido out of the fun on your next vacation. Whether you plan to take your pet along on your Los Angeles sightseeing adventures or they’ll relax in-room while you’re out and about, these pet-friendly hotels in Los Angeles (which I’ve listed by neighborhood) will take great care of everyone in your family.

Booking a pet- or dog-friendly hotel in LA is simple whether you’re visiting Los Angeles with kids or if it will just be you and your pet. The most important thing you can do is call to confirm the availability of pet-friendly rooms and then pre-book to ensure you get one.

Here are some additional tips to help you choose between pet- and dog-friendly hotels in Los Angeles.

Research Fees

Some properties don’t require families staying with pets to pay an additional fee, but many do. This is usually a non-refundable cleaning fee, but may also cover special amenities for pets like food, treats, and toys.

Be Aware of Restrictions

Most pet-friendly hotels in Los Angeles have rules about what types of pets are welcome and how big they can be. Some welcome all dogs and cats, birds, rabbits, and other critters while others only allow dogs (and then only breeds up to a certain weight).

1. Beverly Wilshire, a Four Seasons Hotel

This homey yet luxurious Four Seasons property at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive is a wonderful home base for a family vacation in Los Angeles and one of our favorite Los Angeles luxury hotels.

Dogs and cats up to 15 pounds are welcome in all rooms and can be left unattended. This is the only AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five Star-rated hotel in Southern California, and it just happens to welcome dogs and cats of any size.

For a small fee of $35 per night, per pet (up to two), your furry family members will enjoy luxe bedding, their own monogrammed towels, and delicious treats. Pet-friendly extras at The Peninsula Beverly Hills include dog walking, pet spa treatments, and even pet room service with a specialty menu.

3. The Beverly Hilton

For people, the stylish vintage Beverly Hilton has world-class dining, a salon and spa, high-end boutique shopping, and one of the best pools in L.A.

Pets are welcome here — up to two dogs (75 pounds or under) or cats per room or suite for an additional $50 per pet per stay, though they can’t be left unattended in rooms. The park across the street is the perfect spot to let Fido run off some energy.

4. The Viceroy L’Ermitage Beverly Hills

Dogs 40 pounds and under will feel very welcome at the Viceroy L’Ermitage Beverly Hills, though this dog-friendly hotel in Los Angeles will sometimes allow other well-behaved types of pets by request.

This dog-friendly hotel in Los Angeles stands out for its room service menu just for canines, which includes choice treats like Osetra caviar with hard poached eggs and foie gras.

5. The Beverly Hills Hotel

Two cats or dogs of any size are welcome in each of the luxurious and secluded bungalows at The Beverly Hills Hotel and may be left unaccompanied if crated and the front desk is notified.

The hotel’s original motto stipulated that guests were “entitled to the best of everything,” and four-footed guests are treated to personalized cookies, a soft bed, and their own special bowls.

6. Maybourne Beverly Hills

7. Hotel Indigo Los Angeles

Pets of any size are welcome at the Intercontinental Los Angeles Downtown for a fee of $125 per stay. This hotel and its views are absolutely breathtaking and as long as your dog stays on leash, they’re welcome to enjoy those views with you.

9. Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles

Two dogs up to 25 pounds each are welcome to bunk with you at the Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles for an additional fee of $25 per night up to $50.

Well-behaved pups are welcome to stay in your room unaccompanied to enjoy the hotel’s lovely doggie beds. While there’s nowhere on the property to go for walks, there is a pleasant grassy area very close to this hip hotel.

10. The Standard, Downtown LA

This beautiful pet-friendly hotel in the heart of downtown Los Angeles welcomes both dogs and cats for no additional fee (thanks in part to advocacy efforts by Anjelica Huston and the ASPCA).

The Standard, Downtown LA, which bills itself as not just pet-friendly but “pet-loving,” allows both to be left unattended in its massive guest rooms. When you want to take your pet on your L.A. excursions, you’ll find lots of dog-friendly restaurants and bars nearby.

11. Shade Hotel

Condé Nast Traveler called staying at Shade the sixth best reason to visit L.A., and this beachside hotel in one of the coolest parts of Los Angeles welcomes pooches of all sizes (two per room) for $125 per dog, per stay.

All the hotel’s rooms are pet-friendly, though guests may not leave their four-legged friends unattended in any of them.

12. westdrift Manhattan Beach, Autograph Collection

The staff is incredible at this lovely 4-star relaxed boutique hotel and welcoming to dogs and other furry family members. Guests can room with up to two 50 pound pets for an additional fee of $125 per stay, and both dogs and cats are allowed.

While neither puppies nor kittens are permitted to play unattended in the Westdrift Hotel’s guest rooms, there are grassy areas on the property where they can romp with their humans.

13. Fairmont Miramar Hotel and Bungalows

While your furry best friend may not stay in the room unaccompanied, they can enjoy special beds and delicious treats complements of the property.

The hotel also offers gourmet room service for pets and a Dog Be With You package that includes signature dog toys and daily in-room breakfasts for your pooch and you, too.

You can relax with two pets that are 100 pounds and under at the JW Marriott Santa Monica Le Merigot for $150 per stay, plus a $100 refundable deposit.

What’s especially nice is that the Pacific Street Dog Park is a half-mile from the hotel, or you can walk over — on leash — to the Santa Monica Pier or the 3rd Street Promenade.

15. Bayside Hotel

This chill, pet-friendly boutique hotel in Santa Monica is just steps away from the Pier and some pet-friendly restaurants and bars.

The Bayside Hotel actually bills itself as the “pet-friendliest of accommodations” in this Los Angeles neighborhood, and there’s no posted limit on the number of pets you can have in your room (though there is a fee of $50 per pet, per stay).

16. Loews Santa Monica

For an additional fee of $200 per stay, Loews Santa Monica welcomes one or two pets of any size (dogs or cats) and well-behaved pets can stay in their rooms unattended.

There’s a gourmet pet room service menu, and if you don’t want to worry about hauling your pet’s gear, you can take advantage of the “Loews Loves Pets” program.

The hotel will provide water bowls, leashes, litter boxes, and other amenities for your furry family member.

17. Le Meridien Delfina Santa Monica

This is one of the loveliest dog-friendly hotels in Los Angeles. The Le Meridien Delfina Santa Monica welcomes one or two dogs up to 50 pounds each for an additional fee of $100 per stay, and you can take pleasant leashed walks to the Santa Monica Pier.

18. Sunset Tower Hotel

This pet-friendly West Hollywood Hotel just happens to be next door to an off-the-leash dog park and guests can bring one pet 40 pounds or under for an additional $100 fee.

Sunset Tower Hotel provides everything from beds, bowls for food and water, delicious treats, and its own specialty guide to the best local walks for dogs and their humans.

There’s even a room service menu just for pets that has dinners like dog-friendly cheeseburgers and New York strip steak. Most non-human guests at this hotel are dogs and cats, but they’re usually happy to make exceptions given enough notice.

19. Le Parc Suite Hotel

For a fee of $125 per pet, per room, the stylish, all-suites Le Parc Suite Hotel welcomes one or two pets per room provided they’re under 40 pounds.

The rooms are large enough for pets to romp, and each of your furry friends will be welcome with a bottle of doggie beer (actually yummy beef broth), in-room food and water bowls, and treats.

The hotel even keeps topped-off water bowls for its four-legged guests near each entrance of the hotel.
